About the event
In July 2024, hurricane Beryl ravaged Jamaica, causing unprecedented devastation. Entire neighbourhoods were obliterated, homes reduced to rubble, agricultural resources decimated and countless families left homeless. It is estimated that the hurricane caused $32 billion (JMD) (approximately $204 million USD) in damage across the island. One year later, many families remain displaced, living in temporary accommodations and struggling to rebuild their lives without adequate means. Farm fires in February 2025 have dealt another crippling blow to the people of the country and their recovery efforts.
